About Pam
I am a learning professional with more than 18 years of experience in higher education, specializing in online course design, faculty collaboration, and assessment-driven learning improvement. My work centers on designing clear, engaging, and accessible learning experiences grounded in instructional design best practices and learning theory.
I began my career as a sociology professor, where teaching, curriculum design, and assessment were central to my role. Over time, I increasingly focused on designing and delivering online courses, supporting faculty in course development, and applying models such as backward design and ADDIE to create effective learning experiences. Instructional design has long been embedded in my work, and I now focus on it as my primary professional practice.
I have developed online and hybrid courses, LMS-based learning environments, and interactive eLearning experiences using tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise 360. I have also completed formal instructional design training through a Devlin Peck bootcamp and an Instructional Design Certificate from UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies. Selected examples of my instructional design work can be found in my portfolio.
My academic background includes a PhD in Sociology and publications in peer-reviewed journals and books. This foundation strengthens my instructional design practice by informing how I think about learning, motivation, assessment, and learner diversity. Today, I bring together disciplinary expertise, instructional design methodology, and a collaborative approach to support high-quality digital learning in higher education.
