About Pam

Pam earned a PhD in Sociology from Kent State University in 2008. She then joined the University of West Georgia in 2008 as Professor of Sociology, where she taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in the following areas: emotion, social psychology, deviance, research methods, and statistics.

Recently, Pam has begun a career shift into instructional design (ID). She has been performing many of the job roles for years (e.g., developing and delivering online courses, using the principles of ADDIE and backward design). More specific job duties, like using Articulate Storyline and Rise 360, she has developed in two instructional design programs: a bootcamp with Devlin Peck and a Certificate from UNC Charlotte.

As an instructional designer, Pam has developed several eLearning experiences. They can be viewed in her portfolio.

Outside of ID, Pam has published research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Social Psychology Quarterly, Deviant Behavior, and Journal of GLBT Family Studies. She has also published two books: Where the Music Takes You: The Social Psychology of Music Subcultures (2014) and a volume of essays titled Shameless Sociology: Critical Perspectives on a Popular Television Series, which she co-edited with her colleague Dr. Jennifer Beggs Weber.
